Advisory issued for travelers moving towards Margan Top and Sinthan Top
Anantnag, Dec 12: In response to freezing and slippery road conditions, the district administration of Anantnag has issued an advisory cautioning travelers heading towards Margan Top and Sinthan Top.
The advisory follows a truck accident near Margan Top last night, which resulted in the death of the conductor and injuries to the driver.
An order issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kokernag said: “The Gawran-Warwan road is frozen, and there is a high risk of road accidents and mishaps. Driver negligence is contributing to accidents, leading to the loss of precious lives. Therefore, traffic movement will be permitted only between 10 am and 2 pm.”
The order further directed the SHO Larnoo and traffic police authorities to take stringent action against erring drivers, including the seizure of vehicles.
A similar advisory was issued by the SDM Kokernag for travelers heading towards Sinthan Top.
The Kokernag-Margan road, the sole route connecting the remote Warwan and Marwa valleys of Kishtwar district to the rest of the region, typically closes during winter.
However, this year, with limited snowfall around Margan Top, the road remains slippery and hazardous rather than entirely inaccessible.
Sinthan Top, which connects Kokernag with the main Kishtwar district, also remains mostly closed during the winter months.
