SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary have extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the occasions of Lohri and Makar Sankranti, wishing peace, prosperity, and unity across the region.
In his message, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah emphasised the spirit of togetherness and happiness that these festivals bring. “Lohri holds a special significance, symbolising the vibrant culture and traditions of our land. May these celebrations strengthen bonds and spread warmth and happiness among everyone,” he said, expressing hope for an era of peace and harmony.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha highlighted the importance of Lohri and Makar Sankranti in honouring the hardworking farmers of Jammu and Kashmir. “These traditional festivals provide us with a pious occasion to salute the indomitable spirit of our farmers and recognise their invaluable contribution to J&K’s growth. May these festivals bring health, happiness, and prosperity to all,” he said.
Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary described the festivals as a tribute to nature’s bounties and the changing seasons. He urged people to consign hatred to the fire symbolically and work collectively for national strength and prosperity. “These festivals represent hope, unity, and progress for our region,” he noted.
