SRINAGAR: The Cyber Police of Kashmir have apprehended an individual from Siwal Khas, Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), accused of sharing sexually explicit content of a woman on social media and blackmailing her.

The arrest follows an investigation into a case of online harassment, underscoring the authorities’ strict approach towards cybercrimes, particularly those involving offences against women.

The Kashmir Cyber Police informed about the arrest though a post on X (formerly Twitter)

“@Cyberpolicekmr has arrested an accused from Siwal Khas, Meerut (UP), for transmitting sexually explicit content of a victim on social media and blackmailing her. We reiterate our ZERO TOLERANCE for crimes against women. @JmuKmrPolice @KashmirPolice @SrinagarPolice @IftkharTalib,” reads a post on X.

It reads, “Your safety is our priority. @Cyberpolicekmr urges everyone to report blackmail or harassment immediately. Think before you share personal content online. Together, let’s fight cybercrime. Dial 1930 or visit your nearest Cyber Police Station. #StaySafe #CyberAwareness.”
