Punjab, Dec 07: In a bizarre case, a groom from Dubai was left stranded after arriving with a baraat of 150 guests to marry his “Instagram bride,” who went missing on the wedding day.

Deepak, a 24-year-old labourer from Dubai, had met Manpreet Kaur on Instagram three years ago. The couple had been in a ‘relationship’ since and had even fixed their wedding over the phone.

December 6 was set as the wedding day for the couple, but things went south when Deepak, along with his large wedding party, arrived in Moga, for the wedding.

The wedding venue, “Rose Garden Palace,” didn’t exist, Deepak found after reaching Moga.

Initially, Manpreet promised to send relatives to guide the baraat, but as hours passed, no one showed up. By 5 pm, the groom’s frustration grew as Manpreet’s phone was turned off, forcing the groom and his family to file a police complaint.

Deepak, as per The Indian Express, told the police that Manpreet had introduced herself as a lawyer from Ferozepur.

He further told the police that he had transferred Rs 50,000 to her after she said she needed it for wedding expenses.
