IIMC Jammu Hosts Book Discussion on “I am Shiva”

Jammu: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Jammu, on Friday organized a book discussion on “I am Shiva ” authored by Prof. (Dr.) Raj Nehru, Vice Chancellor of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University. Students of English Journalism, Hindi Journalism, and Digital Media attended the session under the distinguished presence of IIMC Jammu’s Regional Director Dr. Dilip Kumar.
During the discussion, Prof. (Dr.) Nehru delved into the philosophical aspects of Shaivism, highlighting the importance of self-awareness, consciousness, and the synergy between the astral, emotional, and physical selves. Prof. Nehru’s research, drawing from ancient Sanskrit texts, including “Prativigya Hridyam” by Acharya Khemraj, offered valuable insights into the nature of ultimate consciousness and the spark within each individual.
He also discussed the importance of self-awareness as the foundational parameter for emotional intelligence, the concept of ultimate consciousness, symbolized by Shiva, as the unity of awareness and awareness itself, and the significance of witnessing consciousness, living in the moment, and its role in igniting creative power within individuals. The event provided a platform for students and the staff members to engage in thought-provoking discussions, exploring the intersections of philosophy, spirituality, and personal growth.
The session commenced with a warm welcome by moderators Anuja Jain and Saloni Sharma, followed by a brief introduction of the guest speaker by Pranav Shukla of the Digital Media department, and a welcome address by Associate Professor Mr. Vishv. Dr. Ravia Gupta, Assistant Professor, while sharing about the book said that it is the most need-of-the hour book. The discussion was complemented with a Q&A session where Dr. Nehru answered the students’ queries related to their day-to-day demeanour. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Dilip Kumar who expressed gratitude to the guest speaker and faculty for their invaluable contributions to the session. Along with students, faculty members Prof. Anil Saumitra, Dr. Vinit Utpal, Dr. Ravia Gupta, Mr. Rajiv, Mr. Gulshan Kumar, and Mr. Madhusudan also attended the lecture.
