SRINAGAR: Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday announced that December 5 will be observed as an official holiday starting next year.
December 5 is the birth anniversary of National Conference Founder, Sheikh Abdullah. The day was celebrated as a public holiday in Jammu and Kashmir until 2019.
Speaking to the media, the Advisor said that the administration is committed to addressing the concerns of the people.
“The CM is in the valley, monitoring developments minute by minute. For the first time after snowfall, we witnessed the swift restoration of power supply and road connectivity, ensuring that people did not face significant inconvenience,” he said.
He further added that snowfall is a blessing for the region, as it ensures adequate water supplies for the summer months. “While snowfall naturally disrupts daily life, the administration’s prompt action was widely appreciated by the public,” he noted.
The Advisor reassured the people of Jammu and Kashmir that there is no reason for disappointment, as December 5 will officially be marked as a holiday from next year onwards. (KNO)
