SRINAGAR: Once again, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway turned tragic, as two brothers from Rafiabad village lost their lives when the truck they were travelling in plunged into a deep gorge at Ramban on Thursday night.
The incident has left their elderly parents heartbroken, reopening the wounds of losing their elder son in a similar road accident on the same highway years ago.
Quoting officials, KNO reported that the incident occurred around 10:30 PM on Thursday. A rescue operation involving the SDRF, police, and local volunteers was launched, and the bodies were recovered on Friday morning. The deceased have been identified as Danish Imtiyaz Khan and Yasir Imtiyaz Khan, residents of Chijhama Rafiabad in Baramulla district, North Kashmir.
Family members said that the siblings were the sole breadwinners of their household. The loss of all three sons to road accidents has left their elderly parents shattered.
The tragedy has plunged the entire Rafiabad region into mourning. Villagers, braving the harsh winter, rushed to the bereaved family’s home to offer condolences.
Meanwhile, Minister Javed Dar expressed his deepest sympathies to the grieving family, praying for them to find strength and patience in this difficult time. (KNO)
