SRINAGAR: Construction major, Khyber Cement has launched its 2025 calendar, themed The Evolution of Kashmiri Architecture. The unveiling ceremony was held at the company’s corporate office in Hyderpora, Srinagar, with Hamida Akhter, General Manager of the District Industries Centre, as the chief guest.
The calendar explores the rich and varied architectural heritage of Kashmir, tracing its evolution from ancient structures to modern designs. Building on the success of the 2024 calendar, which showcased The Bridges of Jammu & Kashmir, this year’s theme offers a deeper dive into the architectural journey of the region. Each month features an iconic landmark, narrating the story of its historical significance and stylistic influences, making the calendar a celebration of Kashmiri’s resilience, creativity, and cultural pride.
Speaking on the occasion, Manzoor Ahmad Mir, Head of Commercials Legal & Regulatory Affairs at Khyber Cement, highlighted the company’s philosophy of honouring traditions while fostering modern development. “This calendar is not just a collection of images but a reflection of our cultural pride. At Khyber Cement, we believe in honouring the traditions that inspire us, even as we contribute to the future of construction and infrastructure in Kashmir,” he said.
Wasim Khan, Chief of Sales & Customer Relations, emphasised the significance of preserving Kashmir’s unique architectural identity. “Kashmiri architecture is a testament to the skill and resilience of our people. Through this initiative, Khyber Cement aims to keep this heritage alive while continuing to play a pivotal role in shaping modern infrastructure in the valley,” he stated.
Chief guest Hamida Akhter commended the initiative, saying, “Kashmiri architecture is a living testament to our history, resilience, and creativity. The calendar takes its audience on a visual journey across centuries, beginning with the prehistoric Burzahama ruins in January. It then moves to iconic landmarks such as the Martand Sun Temple, Jama Masjid in Srinagar, and the Shalimar Gardens, showcasing the evolution of architectural styles from ancient to Islamic Mughal influences. Later months feature modern landmarks like Amar Singh College and The Greystone, illustrating how Kashmir’s architectural legacy seamlessly blends with contemporary design.
Attendees praised Khyber Cement’s innovative approach to bridging the past with the present. By celebrating Kashmir’s architectural history, the company underscores its dedication to cultural preservation while advancing modern infrastructure development.
