SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police in Baramulla have claimed to have solved the grenade attack case on an Army camp in Hamray Pattan, apprehending three individuals, including a former militan.
The attack, which occurred on January 7, targeted the 163 Territorial Army MI Room, causing damage to the roof but fortunately resulting in no injuries.
Speaking at a press briefing, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Baramulla, Feroz Yehya, commended the swift response by police teams for the breakthrough.
“The arrested individuals include a surrendered militant, his son, and another person believed to be the main planner of the attack,” Yehya stated. He revealed that the mastermind had been evading arrest for two years and was also linked to drug-related activities.
The police have refrained from disclosing the identities of the arrested individuals, citing the ongoing investigation. “We are examining potential connections between this incident and other criminal cases,” Yehya added. He further expressed concern over the reactivation of surrendered militants, stating that it was undermining trust between the police and the families of such individuals.
Investigations are continuing to uncover additional details and possible links to other incidents. (JKNS)
