SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday arrested six drug peddlers across the Kashmir valley as part of their efforts to combat drug-related crimes.
A police spokesperson in a statement said, “In Anantnag, Zakir Ahmad Zargar of Papibal Anantnag was intercepted near Ganjiwada Bypass during a checkpoint, and 400 grams of charas were seized. Similarly, Aamir Hussain Malik of Pushwara Khanabal was stopped at Bonadialgam Bypass, where 350 grams of charas were recovered. In Baramulla, police at Paranpeelan-Bandi Crossing Uri apprehended Mohd Showkat Awan of Dawaran and recovered 1.7 kg of cannabis powder from his possession.”
“In Budgam, officers from PS Beerwah intercepted Waheed Ahmad Magray of Charangam Beerwah at Charangam village, seizing 76 grams of charas wrapped in corn husk along with a mobile phone. Meanwhile, in Awantipora, police arrested Muzaffer Ahmad Dar of Bonpora Lethpora and Riyaz Ahmad Mir of Chati Mohalla Khunmoh Pantha Chowk during a checkpoint operation. A total of 12.2 kg of brown sugar was seized from their possession,” the statement reads.
All the accused have been shifted to respective police stations and remain in custody. Cases have been registered under relevant sections of the law, and investigations are ongoing.
