SRINAGAR: Police on Thursday arrested three militant associates of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
According to a police statement, the arrests were made under sections 13, 18, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
“Kulgam Police, in collaboration with the Army (1RR, 1 Para SF) and CRPF (18 BN), apprehended three individuals identified as Ubaid Khursheed Khanday, son of Khursheed Ahmad Khanday; Maqsood Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohd Ramzan Bhat; and Umer Bashir, son of Bashir Ahmad Dar, all residents of Thokerpora Qaimoh, Kulgam,”‘ thhe statement reads.
During the operation, security forces recovered two AK-series rifles, eight AK-series magazines, 217 rounds of AK ammunition, five hand grenades, and two magazine pouches from their possession. “The arrested individuals were in close contact with active militants of the proscribed terrorist outfit LeT/TRF and were planning major terrorist activities in the Kulgam district.”
