Watch: Sarfaraz Khan hits hundred against Rest of India in Irani Cup | Cricket News
NEW DELHI: Mumbai batsman Sarfaraz Khan scored his 15th century in First-Class cricket to take Mumbai to 338/6 at lunch on the second day of their Irani Cup tie against Rest of India at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Wednesday.
Sarfaraz, who was dropped by Prasidh Krishna at deep mid-on when he was on 95 in the 91st over, reached his hundred in the next over off Yash Dayal with a punch through the off-side for a couple of runs.
Mumbai now have a chance to overhaul the 400-run mark, a pretty good fightback considering they were staring down the barrel at 37/3, before some dogged batting from their middle-order pulled them out of trouble to reach 237/4 at stumps on Day One.
Before Sarfaraz, the architect of the Mumbai fightback was by captain Ajinkya Rahane (97) and Shreyas Iyer (57).
The official handle of BCCI Domestic shared a video when Sarfaraz reached the three-figure milestone:
Sarfaraz made his much-awaited Test debut earlier this year against England and has hit three half-centuries in the three Tests that he has played so far.
Last week, Sarfaraz’s younger brother Musheer Khan had suffered a fracture in a serious road accident in Uttar Pradesh while travelling from his native place Azamgarh with his father-cum-coach Naushad Khan for the Irani Cup match.
