Vikrant Massey clears air on ‘retirement,’ says he’s just taking a long break
Vikrant Massey has addressed the buzz surrounding his recent announcement, clarifying that he isn’t retiring from acting but simply taking a much-needed break. The actor sparked speculation with a social media post suggesting he’d step away from acting in 2025. However, in an interview with News18, he explained, “I’m not retiring… Just burned out. Need a long break. Miss home and health is also acting up.”
Known for acclaimed performances in 12th Fail, Lootera, and A Death in the Gunj, Vikrant has been navigating a packed schedule in recent years. He mentioned the toll on his health but refrained from sharing specific details. Industry colleagues expressed mixed reactions to the news, with some voicing support and others, like Haseen Dillruba co-star Harshvardhan Rane, suspecting a publicity stunt.
Vikrant’s latest film, The Sabarmati Report, was recently screened for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. The actor remained tight-lipped about his plans during the event. This month also sees the release of Zero Se Restart, a behind-the-scenes feature on the making of 12th Fail, Vikrant’s biggest solo hit to date.
Massey is gearing up for several upcoming projects, including Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s documentary Zero Se Restart. He will also be seen in Amit Joshi’s Yaar Jigri, co-starring Sunny Singh, and Santosh Singh’s Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, where he stars opposite Shanaya Kapoor.
