SSC CHSL Syllabus: Selection Process

The SSC CHSL exam will be held in 2 stages called Tiers. The selection process has been given in the table provided below. Candidates must go through the details to avoid confusion related to the selection process.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern For Tier 1

Candidates will be given 100 questions from 4 subjects; General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension to be attempted in 60 minutes. There is a negative marking of 0.5 marks in the SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam for giving a wrong answer to a question.

The marking scheme of all sections under Tier 1 has been provided below:

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern

Tier-II will include the following three sections having two modules each:

• Section-1: Module-I: Mathematical Abilities and Module-II: Reasoning and General Intelligence.
• Section-2: Module-I: English Language and Comprehension and Module-II: General Awareness
• Section-3: Module-I: Computer Knowledge Test and Module-II: Skill Test/ Typing Test

Tier 2 will be conducted in two sessions – Session 1 & Session 2, on the same day.

Tier 2 will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions, except for Module 2 of Section 3.

In Section-1, Section-2, and Module-I of Section-3, 1 mark will be negative marked for each wrong answer.

SSC CHSL Syllabus for Tier-I Exam

SSC CHSL is conducted in three different levels and the syllabus of all three levels is different.

There are 4 sections in Tier I of the SSC CHSL exam which are given below:

Skill test for the post of Data Entry Operator

• In this test, a candidate should have a data entry speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depressions per hour.
• The duration of the Test is 15 minutes.
• English document having about 2000-2200 strokes/key depressions is given to type.

Skill Test for Post of DEO in Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India

• The ‘speed of 15000 key depressions per hour will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/key depressions as per the given passage.
• The duration of the test will be for 15 minutes.
• English document having about 3700-4000 key depressions would be given to type.

Skill test for LDS/JSA/PA/SA

• The speed of 10500 key depressions per hour will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/key depressions as per the given passage.
• The duration of the test will be for 15 minutes.
• English document having about 9000 key depressions/hour would be given to type.
