Ahmedabad: The regulatory bodies overseeing Indian traditional medicine have announced significant changes to admission requirements. The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine, alongside the Ayush ministry and the National Commission for Homeopathy, lowered the minimum eligibility percentile by 15 points for the Natioanl Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG and All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) 2024 admissions.
Under the revised criteria, open category candidates with 35 percentile and reserved category applicants with 25 percentile are now eligible for admission. The govt announced that the registration window for admission has been reopened for newly eligible candidates following this reduction. As of now, 84 ayurveda and 59 homeopathy seats remain unfilled in the state.
Interested candidates will have to procure a PIN and complete their registration by Jan 19. Document verification at the help centre is scheduled for Jan 20. Previously registered candidates who now qualify under the revised criteria need not register again. However, those who qualified under the earlier criteria cannot participate in this round. The admission committee also specified that private colleges have no vacancies under the all-India quota.
