Actor Vikrant Massey announces retirement: It’s time to go home, says ‘12th Fail’ star
Actor Vikrant Massey, known for films such as 12th Fail, Haseen Dillruba and The Sabarmati Report, has announced retirement. In an Instagram post, Massey has said that 2025 will be his last year in the film industry.
“The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and everyone of you for your indelible support,” the actor wrote. “But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home, as a husband, father, a son and also as an actor.”
The actor, who recently headlined The Sabarmati Report, based on the 2002 Godhra train burning incident, said that he has two more films pending. Massey’s announcement shocked film buffs online as they expressed disappointment at the 37-year-old’ actor’s decision to quit at the peak of his career.
Massey had won accolades for his performance as Manoj Kumar Sharma, the man who overcame extreme poverty to become an Indian Police Officer in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail. He was also praised for his performances in films such as Sector 36 and Haseen Dillruba.

Having first made a mark in the Hindi television serial Balika Vadhu, Massey debuted in films with Vikramaditya Motwane’s Lootera (2013), starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha. He first starred in a lead role in actor Konkana Sen Sharma’s directorial debut A Death In The Gunj.
In the web series space, Massey was also part of popular shows such as Mirzapur and Made In Haven. The actor will next be seen in Zero Se Restart, a prequel to the hit 12th Fail. The film will hit the screens on December 13, 2024.
