Airtel expands high-speed Wi-Fi to almost 4 millions new households across these four states
Telecom giant Airtel has expanded its Wi-Fi services to cover an additional 3.9 million households across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Jharkhand. The company announced this development in an exchange filing on Thursday, August 8.
With this expansion, Airtel aims to bolster its presence in these regions and provide high-speed internet access to a wider customer base.The move comes as part of the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its network infrastructure and cater to the growing demand for digital services.
To support its 5G network expansion, Airtel is also reallocating its mid-band spectrum across the 1800, 2100, and 2300 MHz bands nationwide. This spectrum refarming will enable the company to offer faster and more reliable 5G services to its customers. Last month, the company announced that it had begun re-farming its existing mid-band spectrum to accommodate the rapidly increasing traffic demand on its 5G network.
Airtel’s Wi-Fi service offers users access to a vast array of entertainment options, including over 20 OTT platforms, 350+ television channels, and high-speed internet at affordable rates starting from Rs. 699 per month.
The company’s CEO for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Ritesh Agarwal, expressed optimism about the expansion, stating that it would provide customers with endless entertainment possibilities. Similarly, Sujay Chakrabarti, CEO for Bihar and Jharkhand, highlighted the increased accessibility of Airtel Wi-Fi in these states.
