Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ becomes fastest Indian film to earn ₹500 crores
“Pushpa isn’t a flower. Pushpa isn’t a fire. Pushpa is a wildifire,” goes a dialogue in the recently released Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule, and Pushpa Raj has undoubtedly ignited a wildfire at the box office. Director Sukumar’s much-anticipated sequel, released in theatres worldwide on December 5, has become the fastest Indian film to collect Rs. 500 crores at the global box office, breaching the mark in just 3 days.
On Sunday, Mythri Movie Makers, the production banner backing the film, announced the news on its official social media handles.
At the success meet of the film on Sunday, producer Naveen Yerneni expressed his gratitude for the film’s box office record. “Thank you, everyone, for all your support. And we are so proud that Pushpa 2 is the fastest Rs 500 crore Indian film. We are very happy. There’s a long way to go. The predictions (of the movie’s success) seem to be unimaginable,” he said.
On its opening day, the film made ₹294 crore worldwide, while the collections ran up to ₹449 crore on the second day. The film’s paid premiere shows on December 4, held in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Bengaluru, contributed ₹10.1 crore to its Day 1 earnings.
The film reportedly surpassed the first-day collection of films like RRR, Baahubali 2 and KGF 2. The film’s Hindi version is said to have also surpassed the collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan.
Also featuring Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in pivotal roles, Pushpa 2 is directed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers in association with Sukumar Writings.
