Bangladeshi Nationals: Illegal Bangladeshis living in Karnataka will be sent to detention camps, deported: State home minister G Parameshwara | India News

NEW DELHI: Karnataka home minister G Parameshwara on Tuesday said that illegal Bangladeshi immigrants residing in the state will be relocated to detention facilities, and the government will take the required steps to send them back to their country of origin. Parmeswara said that the Bangladeshi high commission or ambassador will be informed if any person without valid documents is found and further process to deport them will be initiated.
“If they don’t have valid documents like passport, visa, they will be arrested immediately and sent to detention centres; after that, we will inform Bangladesh high commission or ambassador, about the arrest of their nationals and seek their permission to deport them,” Karnataka home minister told reporters.
Earlier, former CM of Karnataka, Basavaraj Bommai had said that the illegal stay of these Bangladeshi nationals posed a grave threat to both the state and the nation.
Parmeswara also hit back at BJP leader and former Bengaluru police commissioner B Bhaskar Rao, who had reportedly said that it has not been possible to deport Bangladeshi nationals as they enjoy political support. He said, “During his tenure as Commissioner it was not possible for him to do it, we are doing it now.”
“We are tightening the law and order situation in the state, whoever it is, will not allow them to go against the law,” he added.
He further said that the police crackdown on Bangladeshi nationals, who are illegally staying in the state, has been taking place on a regular basis.
