Raipur: For the first time in Chhattisgarh, a total awake brain tumour surgery with neuromonitoring was successfully performed at a hospital in Raipur. This procedure brought new hope to a 25-year-old patient and showcased excellence in advanced medical care in the state.

The surgery was led by Dr Ghanshyam Sasapardhi, a brain tumour surgery specialist at MMI Narayana Health Hospital, Raipur. The patient experienced frequent seizures, and a tumour was identified in the part of brain responsible for speech and controlling movements, according to the hospital authorities.

The medical team decided to opt for a total awake craniotomy. During the procedure, the patient was kept fully awake under local anaesthesia. The patient showed a quick recovery post-surgery and was discharged symptom-free on the third day. tnn
