Srinagar, Dec 05: The political legacy of the Abdullah family resonated today as Zahir and Zamir, sons of chief minister Omar Abdullah, made a rare public appearance at the mausoleum of National Conference founder and patriarch Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah at Hazratbal, Srinagar.

The young Abdullahs offered fateha prayers in honor of their grandfather, a towering figure in Kashmir’s political history.

The event, steeped in reverence, is expected to witness further participation from senior Abdullah family members. Omar Abdullah and Dr. Farooq Abdullah are slated to arrive at 11 am to address the gathering. Their presence will likely add a significant political and emotional dimension to the occasion, which draws National Conference supporters and admirers annually.

The mausoleum, located near the picturesque Dal Lake, holds a special place in the hearts of the people of Kashmir as it houses the resting place of Sheikh Abdullah, affectionately known as the “Sher-e-Kashmir.” Today’s gathering not only reflects on his contributions but also underscores the continued influence of the Abdullah family in Kashmir’s socio-political landscape.

As the crowd awaits the arrival of Omar and Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the mood is a mix of nostalgia and anticipation, honoring a legacy while looking toward the future of the National Conference and its role in Kashmir’s evolving narrative. (NVI)
