Congress Calls Aga Ruhullah’s Protest ‘NC Internal Matter’
SRINAGAR: A day after the National Conference criticised its party MP Aga Ruhullah for leading a protest on the reservation policy issue, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief Tariq Hameed Kara termed it as the National Conference’s “internal matter”.
“We don’t want to comment on the internal matter of the National Conference. Similarly, we also expect no one to comment on our internal matters,” Kara said.
Kara said, “Rahul Gandhi has been pushing for a caste census in the country. He has made it clear that reservation should be given on the basis of the population.”
On Monday, Member of Parliament from Srinagar, Aga Ruhullah, led a youth protest outside Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s official residence in the Gupkar area of Srinagar over the reservation policy issue. The protest was also joined by several opposition leaders and legislators.
National Conference leader and MLA Hazratbal, Salman Ali Sagar, expressed strong dismay over the protest led by his own party MP, stating that the protest provided a platform for adversaries to exploit the situation.
The protest led by Aga Ruhullah is being seen by many as indicative of a growing internal rift among National Conference leaders. (KNO).
