Drug peddler held with contraband in Srinagar: Police

Srinagar, Dec 07: Srinagar Police has arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

According to police spokesperson, a police party of Police Station Nowhatta during a routine naka checking at Malkha Chowk, Nowhatta intercepted a suspicious person. He has been identified as Sajad Sheikh, son of Baktawar Sheikh, resident of Sheikh Colony, Hawal.

During search, approximately 3.370 kilograms of charas powder-like substance and 20 grams of charas was recovered from his possession and he has been arrested.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 55/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nowhatta and further investigation initiated, he said.

Police urged the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112. They also requested people to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
