Electing big chief, and the Indians

The Indian-American community may be small (with approx 2.6mn eligible voters) but it matters in the tightest ever US presidential election. With a median household income of $153,000, almost twice that of the average American household, it is courted by both Democrats and Republicans for donations.

 

Further, in an election where a few thousand votes may decide the winner in a state – in 2020 Biden won Arizona by 10,457 votes and Georgia by 11,779 votes – the fact that the Indian-American community has a high voter turnout matters. This is particularly the case in Georgia, which is a swing state and in recent times the Indian-American population here has ballooned because of the thriving economy. In Wisconsin, which Biden won by 20,682 votes, the community can also help put a candidate over the top. So which way will the community vote?
