Fans worried over R Madhavan’s drastic weight loss in just 21 days; actor says ‘drink your food and chew your water’ | Fitness News

Actor and filmmaker R Madhavan, known for his fitness and sharp looks, recently surprised fans with a significant weight loss after gaining kilos for his directorial debut, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. Taking to social media (platform unspecified), Madhavan shed light on his successful body transformation journey.

Madhavan wrote, “Intermittent fasting, heavy chewing of food 45-60 times (drink your food and chew your water) .. last meal at 6.45 pm (only cooked food -nothing raw AT ALL post 3 pm) .. early morning long walks and early night deep sleep (no screen time 90 min before bed) … plenty of fluids .. lots of green vegetables and food that is easily metabolized by your body and healthy. Nothing processed at all. ALL THE VERY BEST . 👍👍👍.”

While many fans applauded Madhavan’s results, some expressed concerns about potential health risks associated with intermittent fasting, particularly if not followed with proper guidance.

Dt Suhani Seth Agarwal, HOD, Dietetics, Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital, Noida, acknowledges that long-term, unsupervised intermittent fasting can lead to nutrient deficiencies, muscle loss, and metabolic slowdown, emphasising the importance of a holistic approach to weight loss.

Agarwal broke down the key components of Madhavan’s weight loss approach:

Intermittent Fasting: This method of structured eating cycles played a role in Madhavan’s weight loss strategy, as confirmed by Dt Agarwal. Intermittent fasting can promote weight loss by lowering insulin levels and facilitating fat burning. This approach not only helps reduce calorie intake but also potentially enhances metabolic efficiency.

Mindful Eating: He highlighted the importance of thorough chewing (45-60 times per bite!), encouraging fans to “drink their food and chew their water” for improved digestion and potentially reduced calorie intake. Dt Agarwal agrees, stating that proper chewing aids in nutrient breakdown, promotes satiety, and helps avoid overeating.

Early Eating Window: Madhavan restricted his daily food intake to a specific window, with his last meal being consumed by 6:45 pm. This practice aligns with some intermittent fasting protocols.

Clean Eating: Processed foods were strictly off-limits, replaced with healthy, easily metabolized options.

Hydration & Sleep: Madhavan emphasized the importance of staying well-hydrated and prioritizing quality sleep with no screen time before bed. These habits promote overall health and potentially aid weight management.

Green Power: Madhavan’s diet incorporated plenty of green vegetables, known for their nutritional benefits and potential to promote satiety.

Combining these practices can be effective but they should be implemented alongside a balanced diet and regular physical activity for sustainable results and overall well-being. Consulting a healthcare professional before undertaking significant dietary changes, especially those like intermittent fasting, is highly recommended.
