Fire breaks out in MLA Hostel Srinagar, no loss of life reported

Srinagar, Dec 10: A fire broke out at MLA Hostel in Lal Chowk area of Srinagar on Tuesday morning, officials said.

They said the fire erupted one of the rooms of first floor of the building which later on spread to other parts, however it was controlled with the strenuous efforts within a short span of time.

“We have received a call about the mishap at 11:52 am, soon after we rushed our men and machinery to the spot to douse off the flames. The fire was brought under control within half an hour,” Deputy Director Fire & Emergency Department, Er Auqib Hussain told Greater Kashmir.

He said the fire erupted one of the rooms in first floor and spread later on to few more, but due to strenuous efforts it was controlled within a short span of time, without any loss of life reported.

He said the cause of the fire is being ascertained.
