Former KU VC Prof Wahid Qureshi passes away

Srinagar, Nov 17: Former Kashmir University (KU) Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Wahid Qureshi passed away at SKIMS Srinagar on Sunday morning.

A distinguished academic, Prof. Qureshi was the senior most professor at the University of Kashmir. He remained as VC KU from 2004 to 2008.

After completing his tenure as VC KU, Prof Qureshi retired from his service.

Later in 2009, Prof Wahid Qureshi was appointed as VC Central University of Kashmir (CUK) for a period of five years.

Professor Qureshi, a native of Karnah in Kupwara district, was presently residing in Srinagar.

His body is being taken to Karnah for last rites and he will be buried in his ancestral graveyard in Karnah.

Condolences have started pouring in from different walks of life to condole the demise of Prof. Wahid Qureshi.
