GATE 2025 Notification, Check Eligibility, Application Process will begin on 28 August at gate2025.iitr.ac.in

GATE 2025 is being organized by the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. GATE will be a computer-based test (CBT) and the Exam will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee), on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (Gol).

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering examination application portal for GATE 2025 will open on 28th August 2024 on the IITR GATE website and candidates can register and submit application forms through the official site of IIT Roorkee at https://gate2025.iitr.ac.in. The Closing Date of the online registration/ application process (Without a Late Fee) is 26th September 2024 and with Late Fee is 7th October 2024.

The GATE 2025 Examination will be conducted at specific centres in selected cities and towns in India as listed on the GATE 2025 website. GATE 2025 score will remain valid for three years from the date of announcement of results.

Important Dates:

The GATE 2025 registration which was scheduled to begin on August 24 has been postponed and will now commence on August 28, 2024.

Steps to Apply for GATE 2025

  1. Visit the official site of GATE 2025 at https://gate2025.iitr.ac.in.
  2. Click on the Login link available on the home page.
  3. Enter the registration details and click on submit.
  4. Now, log in to the account and fill in the application form.
  5. Upload the necessary documents.
  6. Next, make the payment of application fees.
  7. Once done, click on submit. Your application has been submitted.
  8. Download the confirmation page and keep a hard copy of the same for further need.

Application Fee of GATE 2025

To apply for GATE, candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwD or Female categories have to pay Rs.900 during the regular and Rs.1,400 during the extended period. For all others, the fee is Rs.1,800 during the regular and Rs.2,300 during the extended period.

Eligibility criteria for GATE 2025

A candidate who is currently studying in the third or higher year of any undergraduate degree program or has already completed any government-approved degree program in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/ Arts/Humanities is eligible to appear for GATE 2025.

Qualified GATE score can be used for seeking admission and/ or financial assistance to:
(i) Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/ Science/Commerce/Arts/Humanities; and
(ii) Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Engineering/Technology/ Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts / Humanities in institutions supported by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and other Government agencies, subject to fulfilling the admission criteria of the admitting institutes.

GATE scores may also be used by some colleges and institutions for admitting students without MoE scholarships or assistantships. Further, many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have been using GATE scores for recruitment.

GATE 2025 test papers will be in English and entirely of the objective type. There are three different kinds of questions: multiple-choice (MCQ), multiple-selection (MSQ), and numerical answer type (NAT). In MCQs, only one out of four options is correct. In MSQs, one or more than one out of four options is/are correct; and for NAT questions, the answer must be keyed in using a virtual keypad. The candidates must use only the on-screen virtual calculator provided for their calculations.
