J&K: Counter-intel raids dismantle recruitment module of newly formed terror group | India News
NEW DELHI: The Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) conducted major raids across six districts in the Kashmir Valley on Tuesday, targeting recruiters connected to a terrorist group.
The operations took place early in the morning in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Anantnag, Budgam, and Kulgam.
Officials disclosed that they dismantled a recruitment network of a newly established terrorist group called “Tehreek Labaik Ya Muslim” (TLM).This group is believed to be an extension of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and was reportedly managed by a Pakistani terrorist identified as Baba Hamas.
“In the early hours of October 22, the Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) conducted a major operation, carrying out raids across multiple districts including Srinagar, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Kulgam, Budgam, Anantnag, and Pulwama. During the operation, a recruitment module of the newly formed terrorist organisation ‘Tehreek Labaik Ya Muslim’ (TLM) was dismantled. This group believed to be an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was reportedly being operated by a Pakistani terrorist handler known as ‘@ Baba Hamas’,” CIK said.
Earlier, a National Investigation Agency (NIA) team visited a construction site in Ganderbal district, where five migrant workers, a designer, and a doctor were killed.
The team was led by a Superintendent of Police from the NIA’s regional branch in the valley.
Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah urged security forces and the police to stay alert. He mentioned that these violent acts aim to portray instability in the region and questioned the violence against civilians. He assured that the administration would prioritise public security.
Late Sunday evening, terrorists attacked a construction site on the Srinagar-Leh national highway in Gagangir village, Ganderbal district. They killed a doctor, a designer, and five migrant workers as they returned to their camp. This incident has heightened concerns about safety in the valley.
