NEW DELHI: In a first for Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), Professor Mazhar Asif, who recently assumed office as the university’s 16th Vice Chancellor, invited JMI’s sanitation staff for a direct dialogue to understand their challenges and to foster a closer connection with all members of the university community.
Held in his office, the meeting marked an unprecedented step in recognising the contribution of sanitation workers. Prof. Asif expressed respect and gratitude for their ongoing efforts in maintaining the cleanliness of the campus, emphasising their vital role in the university’s day-to-day operations. “This is not just a university but our home and workplace,” Prof. Asif said, urging them to take pride in keeping the campus clean. “It is our collective responsibility to ensure the workplace is neat and clean, as work is worship,” he added.
