KGMU Introduces Online Payment System for Patients, ET HealthWorld
Lucknow: Patients at KGMU can now make online payment with the introduction of digital payment option at the medical university.
In addition to traditional cash payment, patients can now utilise QR codes and online payment for various services. This move is expected to significantly reduce wait times and provide greater convenience to patients and their families.
KGMU, with its 4000-bed capacity, often operates beyond its capacity, catering to a daily influx of 7,000 to 8,000 outpatients. Previously, patients were required to pay cash for consultations, surgeries and admissions. While some counters offered limited online payment options, the overall process often took time. To streamline the payment process and eliminate the associated inconveniences, KGMU’s administration implemented a robust digital payment system. Point-of-sale (POS) machines have been installed at various cash counters, enabling card payments, QR code scans, and UPI-based transactions.
KGMU spokesman Prof Sudhir Singh said, “35 POS machines have been installed on the campus with the support of the IT cell and finance office. Patients can avail the service for treatment. To further promote digital transactions, KGMU has placed informative posters at cash counters, detailing accepted payment methods and troubleshooting tips.”
