Mian Altaf demands stop in Anantnag for New Delhi-Srinagar train
Srinagar, Dec 05: Member of Parliament from Anantnag-Rajouri constituency, Mian Altaf Ahmad on Thursday appealed to the Union Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, to include Anantnag as a designated stop for the upcoming Delhi-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express.
In a written communication, he urged the Union Railway Minister to add Anantnag as a stop for the upcoming Delhi-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express.
“I have come to know that Vande Bharat sleeper train services will commence from January 25 next year in Kashmir. Further, once the railway line to Srinagar is operationalised, the people will be able to directly travel to Kashmir in the train. Anantnag which is also the district headquarters is the first important district in the Kashmir valley after Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and stopping the train at Anantnag will help the people in the adjoining district also.”
Being the elected representative of the Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency, “I would be really happy if the stoppage of the train is created at Anantnag district, so that people of my constituency and other adjoining districts will get benefit of it.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to flag off the train from New Delhi on January 25.
