Modi attends special screening of The Sabarmati Report
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (December 2, 2024) watched The Sabarmati Report, produced by filmmaker Ektaa Kapoor, said to be based on the burning of the Sabarmati Express in which 59 people, including 27 women and 10 children returning from a ceremony in Ayodhya, were killed in Gujarat’s Godhra on February 27, 2002.
The film, starring Vikrant Massey, Raashi Khanna, and Ridhi Dogra, was screened at the Balayogi Auditorium of the Parliament Library building.
Mr. Modi’s Cabinet colleagues, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and several MPs, attended the screening. Mr. Massey and Ms. Khanna were also present.
Earlier, on November 17, the PM had responded to a post on the film on social media platform X with appreciation. “Well said. It is good that this truth is coming out, and that too in a way common people can see it. A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period of time. Eventually, the facts will always come out!” Mr. Modi had said.
