Pahalgam Winter Carnival Key to Keeping Kashmir Vibrant, Says Omar Abdullah
SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday stated that events like the Pahalgam Winter Carnival help keep Kashmir vibrant throughout the year.
Omar said that such festivals are essential to maintaining Kashmir’s status as a vibrant tourist destination. He added that the initiative had begun in Pahalgam and would soon extend to other areas like Gulmarg, Sonamarg, and others.
He further mentioned that efforts are being made to enhance tourism, alongside infrastructure development and cultural initiatives, across all tourist destinations in Jammu and Kashmir.
When asked about MP Aga Ruhullah Mehdi’s statement that restoring Article 370 is more important than the restoration of statehood, Omar responded that he is focused on the welfare of the people and had not yet seen Mehdi’s statement.
In response to allegations by the BJP that the NC government had failed to deliver on its promises, the Chief Minister said that the BJP had failed in recent elections and must accept their own failure before issuing a report card on his government. (KNO)
