Police arrest two drug peddlers with contraband in Srinagar

Srinagar, Dec 15: Police has arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A police spokesperson said that a police party of Police Post Urdu Bazar during Naka checking at Budgeer Kawdara crossing arrested two drug peddlers namely Milad Bashir Bhat, son of Late Bashir Ahmad Bhat, resident of Dolipora Kawdara; and Toyab Ahmad Shekh, son of Late Mohammad Shafi Sheikh, resident of Surnai Mohalla Kawdara.

During search, about 16 gms of Charas-like substance and 210 gms of ganja-like substance was recovered from their possession, he said.

In this connection, case FIR No. 53/2024 under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered in PS M R Gunj and investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Police appealed public to report any instances of drug peddling or other criminal activities that they may witness in their surroundings, and asked them to reach out to the nearest police station or call 112 to share information.
