A recent poll conducted by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) reveals that 41 percent of Muslim voters in the United States prefers Green party nominee Jill Stein as the 2024 presidential candidate.
The poll, conducted from October 30 to October 31, surveyed 1,449 verified Muslim voters across the country and provides a clear indication of the political leanings within this community.
According to the poll results, 42 percent of Muslim voters support Green Party nominee Jill Stein for the presidential run, closely followed by Vice President Kamala Harris, who received 41 percent of the vote.
The support for Stein marks a notable preference among Muslim voters, indicating a shift in the political landscape as these voters express their opinions on the candidates.
The data also shows that nearly 10 percent of Muslim voters back former President Donald Trump of the Republican Party, a figure that remains consistent with the 11 percent support he garnered in a similar poll conducted in August.
Other candidates received minimal support, with only 5 percent of respondents stating they do not plan to vote and 1 percent supporting Chase Oliver of the Libertarian Party. The poll indicates almost no undecided voters, with just 0.9 percent remaining without a preference.
In a statement regarding the poll findings, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad emphasized the importance of voter engagement within the Muslim community.
He remarked, “This final national poll of American Muslim voters confirms that our community members are deeply engaged in the 2024 election, with 95 percent saying they plan to turn out to vote. The poll also confirms that opposition to U.S. support for the war on Gaza continues to play a major role in influencing Muslim voter preferences. Our message for American Muslims is simple: regardless of who you plan to support, it is essential that you turn out to vote. Do not sit on the sidelines. Make your voices heard and show the strength of our community in states across our nation.”
As the election date draws nearer, the estimated 2.5 million Muslim voters in America are poised to play a crucial role in the political arena. With their significant presence in key swing states, Muslim voters have the potential to influence not just the presidential election but also congressional, state, and local elections.
