Prime Accused to Appear Online, ET HealthWorld
Kolkata: Sanjay Roy, the prime accused in the R G Kar rape-murder case, will appear online during the week following an order from the district judge. Roy will, however, appear before the court when asked by the judge.
“The judge has asked him to appear online. His presence at this stage is required in case there is a need to identify witnesses. He will remain present physically as directed by the court,” his lawyer, Sourav Bandyopadhyay, said.
On Monday, doctors who performed the autopsy on the 31-year-old victim are likely to depose before the court. The CBI, in its charge sheet, earlier said that inquest proceedings and the post-mortem videography were consistent with the post-mortem report.
The central investigating agency, which filed the charge sheet on the 58th day from the start of its probe, also checked whether any evidence was tampered with during the probe.
The post-mortem report of the 31-year-old PGT doctor came under scrutiny after junior doctors raised concerns over the transparency of the process. They questioned the report’s authenticity.
The CBI, which took over the case following a Calcutta High Court order on Aug 13, interrogated doctors who were on the panel that conducted the post-mortem. The head of the forensic medicine and toxicology department at AIIMS, Kalyani, constituted a medical board of experts to investigate the videography of the inquest proceedings.
