Proclaimed offender involved in multi-million drug smuggling case arrested in Handwara

Kupwara, Nov 19: In a major breakthrough, Handwara Police in collaboration with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday successfully apprehended proclaimed offender Muneer Ahmad Banday, son of Ghulam Rasool Banday, a resident of Banday Mohalla Handwara who was carrying a cash reward five lac rupees.

The accused had been evading arrest since June 2020 in connection with case under FIR No. 03/2020 U/S 8/21, 17, 18, 20 UAPA, 120-B, 121 IPC.

A police spokesperson said that Muneer was involved in a multi-million drug smuggling case, which had significant implications for funding illegal activities.

His arrest marks a major success for Handwara Police and other security agencies in the fight against organized crime and narco-terrorism, he said.
