‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ box office: Allu Arjun shatters records with a massive ₹175 crore Day 1 collection, says reports
Allu Arjun’s much-anticipated film Pushpa 2: The Rule has taken the box office by storm, setting a new benchmark for Indian cinema. The film, directed by Sukumar, raked in a staggering ₹175.1 crore nett on its opening day in India, According to the tracking website Sacnilk, cementing its position as the biggest opener in Indian film history. Globally, the total gross collection is estimated to exceed ₹200 crore, including impressive overseas numbers.
Released on December 5, Pushpa 2 was showcased across more than 10,000 screens worldwide. The film’s paid premiere shows on December 4, held in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Bengaluru, contributed ₹10.1 crore to its Day 1 earnings.
The Telugu version of the film led the charge, contributing ₹85 crore nett, while the Hindi version brought in ₹67 crore, surpassing the opening-day record of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which had previously earned ₹64 crore. The Tamil and Malayalam versions added ₹7 crore and ₹5 crore, respectively.
Trade analysts, including Ramesh Bala, hailed the film as the “all-time Day 1 opener in India.” The phenomenal performance has also sparked discussions about whether Pushpa 2 could surpass the Day 1 collections of RRR, which grossed ₹223 crore globally.
Featuring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil in pivotal roles, Pushpa 2 also boasts an ensemble cast including Anasuya Bharadwaj, Sunil, and Jagapathi Babu. A special cameo by Sreeleela further added to the excitement surrounding the film.
