Rahul: People will avenge ‘attack’ on Constitution | India News
NEW DELHI: Rahul Gandhi dubbed Devendra Fadnavis’s controversial comments about his brandishing a copy of the Constitution at a Nagpur convention an ‘insult’ to Ambedkar, and said the people of Maharashtra will avenge BJP’s ‘attack’ on the Constitution.
In a post across social media platforms with hashtag #SamvidhanVirodhiBhajpa, Rahul said, “BJP’s former chief minister of Maharashtra believes that showing BabaSahib’s Constitution and demanding a caste census is a naxalite thought. BJP’s such mindset is an insult to the architect of the Constitution and Maharashtra’s favourite son Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar. In the Lok Sabha elections, the people of Maharashtra fought for the Constitution and gave a big victory to MVA. Maharashtra will not tolerate the insult to BabaSahib and the people will join hands with the MVA to rebuff this attack on the Constitution.”
Fadnavis had taken potshots at the red-cover copy of the Constitution that Rahul Gandhi showed at ‘Samvidhan Samman Sammelan’ in Nagpur this week, while also accusing him of cobbling a coalition of anarchists.
Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said, “Devendra Fadnavis accuses Rahul Gandhi of showing a ‘red book’ to seek support from so-called ‘urban naxals’. This is the very same Constitution of India which the RSS had attacked in Nov 1949 as not having been inspired by Manusmriti.”
