Rashami Desai says she was homeless for four days, slept in her Audi A6: ‘I had a debt of Rs 3.5 cr, was on the road’  | Television News

Rashami Desai, who first gained after she appeared on the Colors TV show Uttaran, recently shared that she once experienced homelessness when she lost her house and had a debt of Rs 3.5 crore. She also added that for the four days, she slept in her car, an Audi A6.  Rashami laughed when she spoke about sleeping in her Audi but added that she would eat meals that she would buy for only Rs 20, and those would have small pebbles in them.

Rashami hinted that this happened shortly after her divorce with actor Nandish Sandhu and told Paras Chhabra on his podcast, “I had bought a house during that time. I had a loan of almost Rs 2.5 crore, and apart from that… I remember there was a total debt of Rs 3.25-3.5 crore on me. I thought everything was fine but then suddenly, my show was shut down.”

She added that she was “on the road for four days. I had an Audi A6 and I would sleep in that car. All my stuff was at my manager’s house. I was completely cut off from my family. Those days, rickshaw valas would have a meal for Rs 20. It used to come in a plastic bag which had daal and chawal mixed and they would give two rotis along with it. It would have some stones also but I ate that anyway.” Rashami said that these four days “were very difficult” for her.”

Speaking about her emotional state at the time, “I got divorced, even my friends started to think I was very difficult because I wasn’t expressive and I would go into my shell. My family thought all my decisions are wrong.” Rashami said that things started changing after she landed her next show Dil Se Dil Tak, where she starred with Sidharth Shukla.

Festive offer

“I somehow paid off my loan but I was still to stressed all the time. I would not sleep. I would just work continuously. At that time, I started thinking, I would rather die,” she shared emotionally. Rashami said that a few of her colleagues and team members helped her in dealing with that phase and yoga also played an important role in her healing journey.

Rashami shared that she eventually had to sell off her Audi A6 for Rs 15 lakh because she needed Rs 12 lakh to pay off her loan. She laughed and said that after this, she bought an Innova and said, “At least you can sleep in it. Audi was very uncomfortable to sleep in.”
