‘Reservation is My Top Priority, Not Political Gains’, Says Ruhullah
SRINAGAR: Senior National Conference (NC) leader and Member of Parliament, Aga Syed Ruhullah, said on Thursday that the reservation issue is his top priority, above any personal or political interests.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar after reviewing the progress of central projects and schemes, Ruhullah stressed the critical role of reservations in achieving social justice and empowering underprivileged communities.”Political ambitions should not overshadow the broader goal of ensuring equal opportunities for marginalised groups,” he said.
“For me, the reservation issue and the welfare of students are of utmost importance. This is a significant concern, and everyone must raise their voice to protect it,” Ruhullah said.
In response to comments made by Apni Party president, Syed Altaf Bukhari, Ruhullah dismissed the remarks as outdated tactics. He said, “The public is smart enough to discern between genuine efforts and mere dramatics. It’s unwise to underestimate their intelligence. He views others through the lens of his own experience, as someone who was himself strategically placed. This shows a lack of respect for the people’s discernment.”
Notably, Bukhari had earlier posted on ‘X’ that the days of political gimmickry were long gone and people were intelligent enough to distinguish between genuine efforts and theatrical actions.
Ruhullah called on journalists to focus on the real issues, saying, “Journalists should highlight the concerns that matter instead of creating unnecessary controversies. The focus should remain on addressing the students’ concerns.” This response came after Ruhullah was asked by reporters about NC leader Salman Sagar’s claim that Ruhullah’s participation in the protest had provided a platform to the party’s critics.
