The 10-year-old younger brother of Shaaban Al-Dalou, a Palestinian teenager who was seen connected to an IV drip while being burned alive along with his mother after Israeli forces bombed the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital complex in Deir el-Balah on Monday, succumbed to burn injuries.

10-year-old Abdul Ruhman died after fighting for life while getting medical treatment at Nasser and the European Hospital in Khan Younis since the attack on Monday. Shaaban’s two sisters and father sustained explosive burns on their faces, hands, shoulders, and legs, according to the Drop Site News.

A substantial backlog of over 12,000 patients awaits urgent medical evacuation outside the Gaza Strip, according to the UN.

“His other two sisters are now facing the same fate. We have to help them evacuate ASAP. The family is on the verge of being wiped out,” Gaza-based journalist Abubaker Abed posted on Friday, announcing the death of Abdul Ruhman.

Shaaban was sheltering in a tent on the grounds of Al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza, recovering from an earlier Israeli bombing. He had survived the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Mosque attack in Deir al-Balah on October 6 that killed 26 people and wounded many others. Shaaban was severely wounded and needed 20 stitches on his head.

Shaaban’s image triggered renewed calls for a ceasefire in Gaza, with pro-Palestinian activists across the world mourning for the 19-year-old engineering student. The image triggered debate in the UK and Ireland Parliament.

Sha’ban was a student of software engineering at Al-Azhar University in Gaza and had memorised the Quran. In an undated video, Sha’ban can be seen saying that his family were displaced five times during the “starvation war”, referring to the genocide in Gaza committed by the US-backed Israeli military for over a year.
