Shaina NC lodges FIR against UBT MP Arvind Sawant for ‘offensive’ remark | India News
MUMBAI: Shiv Sena candidate from Mumbadevi, Shaina NC, on Friday lodged an FIR against Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant at Nagpada police station, alleging the former minister made objectionable remarks against her.
A case under sections 79 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 356 (2) (punishment for defamation) of the BNS was filed after Shaina said the three-time South Mumbai MP referred to her as ‘maal’. Sawant said he didn’t use any objectionable words. “I have never insulted any woman. I have not named her anywhere. I spoke in Hindi, and it was not objectionable. Shaina NC is an old friend of mine. The statement was given on Oct 29, but was raked up on Friday. They have not spoken on the atrocities on women in Manipur… What about the allegations against Sena minister Sanjay Rathod?” he said.
