SRM University-AP Makes History with First Private Indian University Expedition to Everest Base Camp

AMARAVATI: SRM University-AP marked a milestone as a team of 18 students and faculty successfully completed a challenging 15-day expedition to the Everest Base Camp (EBC), becoming the first private Indian university to lead such an endeavor. The team, led by Prof. Sidharth Shankar Tripathy, Director of Entrepreneurship & Innovation, reached the base camp located at 5,364 meters above sea level.
The journey, undertaken from October 12 to 27, began in Amaravati and passed through Kathmandu before the team navigated the rugged Himalayan terrain to reach the iconic base camp. During the felicitation event in Amaravati, Prof. Tripathy shared insights into the preparation and resilience required for this expedition, highlighting the endurance shown by the team.
Minister for Home Affairs & Disaster Management of Andhra Pradesh, Vangalapudi Anitha, recognized the team’s achievement at a special ceremony, noting the expedition’s potential to inspire future students across Andhra Pradesh.
This Everest Base Camp journey showcases SRM University-AP’s commitment to experiential learning, furthering its mission to create impactful educational opportunities beyond the classroom.
