SSC CGL 2024 Tier 1 Exam date announced, admit cards expected in September first week: Check exam pattern, qualifying marks and more : Valley Vision

SSC CGL 2024 Tier 1 Exam date: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the official examination dates for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam 2024, on its official website at sc.gov.in.
According to the notice, the SSC will be conducting the nationwide recruitment exam over a span of 17 days, beginning on September 9, 2024 and ending on September 26, 2024.
The official notice reads, “The Commission has decided to conduct the Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2024(Tier-I) from 09-Sep-2024 to 26-Sep-2024.”

SSC CGL 2024 Tier 1 Exam: Minimum Qualifying Marks
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has established the minimum qualifying marks for the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam as outlined in their official notification. Candidates belonging to the General category must achieve a minimum of 30% marks to qualify. For those in the OBC (Other Backward Classes) and EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) categories, the required qualifying mark is set at 25%. Candidates from all other categories, including SC (Scheduled Caste) and ST (Scheduled Tribe), must secure at least 20% of the total marks to pass the examination.
SSC CGL 2024 Tier 1 Exam: Test pattern
The SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam for 2024 will be conducted online and will consist of four sections with a total of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), carrying a maximum of 200 marks. The exam is to be completed within a time frame of 60 minutes. It is important to note that the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam is of a qualifying nature, meaning that the marks obtained in this stage will not be counted towards the final selection.
The exam will cover four main sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. Each section will include 25 questions, each carrying 2 marks, making a total of 50 marks per section. Therefore, the entire exam will contribute up to 200 marks. Additionally, there is a negative marking scheme in place, where 0.50 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer. Here’s an overview-

Important topics for SSC CGL Tier 1 exam

For the SSC CGL Tier I exam, it’s crucial to focus on key topics across different sections:
General Intelligence and Reasoning covers various types of questions such as Classification, Analogy, and Coding-Decoding. You should also be prepared for Puzzle and Seating Arrangement problems, as well as Statement and Conclusion questions. Additionally, Non-Verbal Reasoning plays a significant role in this section.
General Awareness includes a broad range of subjects. Current Affairs, both national and international, are essential. History questions may cover Ancient, Medieval, and Modern periods. Geography topics include Physical, Political, and World Geography. You should also be familiar with Indian Polity and the Constitution, Economics (including Basic Concepts, Economic Survey, and Budget), and Science and Technology.
In Quantitative Aptitude, focus on the Number System, Percentage, Ratio-Proportion, and Profit and Loss. Time, Speed, and Distance problems are common, and you should also study Algebra, as well as Geometry and Mensuration.
For English Comprehension, you need to be well-versed in Grammar topics such as Error Spotting and Sentence Improvement. Vocabulary questions, including Synonyms and Antonyms, are important, as well as Reading Comprehension, Fill in the Blanks, and Sentence Rearrangement.
