In his statement issued here, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said, “Unfortunately, the government is failing to ensure the required power supply to consumers in Jammu and Kashmir. Reports from across Srinagar city and other parts of the valley indicate that the power department is not adhering to its own outage schedule. Unscheduled and frequent power cuts in both metered and non-metered areas are causing immense problems for residents.”

“With the harsh winter and Chillai Kalan yet to begin, if the government fails to provide adequate power now, one can only imagine the situation in the coming days. Officials say J&K faces a 700 MW power shortfall. The government must act quickly to bridge the gap between allocation and demand,” he added.
