Candidates slated to take their exams on August 21, 22, and 23 can now access and download their admit cards from the official website at ugcnet.nta.ac.in. Admit cards for exams on later dates will be available shortly. Additionally, the UGC NET exam initially planned for August 26 has been rescheduled due to Krishna Janmashtami.

UGC NET 2024: Permissible items inside the exam hall
Applicants must note that only the following items will be permitted inside the examination hall.
- Admit card and self-declaration: A printed copy of the Admit Card, along with a completed Self Declaration form, should be downloaded from the NTA website and printed on A4-sized paper.
- Transparent ball point pen: A basic, clear ballpoint pen for writing.
- Extra photograph: An additional passport-sized photograph to be affixed to the Attendance Sheet.
- Personal hand sanitizer: A small, 50 ml bottle of hand sanitizer for personal use.
- Clear water bottle: A transparent water bottle for hydration during the exam.
- Identification proof: A valid ID for identity verification.
Prohibited items for the UGC NET exam 2024
According to the information bulletin, candidates are prohibited from bringing items that could be used for unfair practices. These include:
- Instruments and Stationery: Geometry boxes, pencil cases, and any form of paper or stationery, whether printed or handwritten.
- Personal Items: Handbags, purses, and any kind of eatables, whether loose or packed.
- Electronic Devices: Mobile phones, earphones, microphones, pagers, calculators, docu pens, slide rules, log tables, cameras, tape recorders, electronic watches with calculator functions, and any other electronic gadgets or devices.
- Food and Beverages: Chocolates, chips, drinks, and other consumables
- Other Prohibited Items: Metallic items and chewing gum or gutka.
Additionally, smoking, chewing gutka, or spitting within the examination room is strictly forbidden.
UGC NET 2024: Dress Code
Candidates should dress comfortably according to the examination center’s dress code. It is important to avoid wearing jewelry, embroidered, or pocketed clothing, as these can slow down the security check process. Additionally, candidates should refrain from wearing shoes with thick soles and clothing with large buttons.
Documents required at the UGC NET June 2024 examination centre
Candidates are advised to carefully read and follow the instructions provided on their hall tickets before heading to the examination hall. You must carry these essential documents to the examination centre to ensure smooth entry.
- Admit Card: A printed copy of the Admit Card, which can be downloaded from the NTA website.
- Photograph: One passport-sized photograph, identical to the one uploaded on the Online Application Form for placement on the Attendance Sheet at the examination center.
- Valid Photo ID: An original, valid, and non-expired photo ID such as a PAN card, Driving License, Passport, Aadhaar Card (with photograph), or any other authorised identification. The name on the ID must exactly match the name on the Admit Card.
- Name Changes: If the candidate’s name has changed due to marriage or other legal reasons, they must present relevant documentation, such as a Marriage Certificate, Divorce Decree, or Legal Name Change Document at the time of the exam.
- PwD Certificate: If applicable, candidates claiming relaxation under the PwD category must bring a valid certificate issued by the competent authority.
Important guidelines for the UGC NET June exam 2024
Candidates must report to the examination centre two hours before the exam begins to complete frisking and registration procedures. The registration desk will close 30 minutes prior to the start of the examination. Here are some other important guidelines as issued by the concerned authorities.
- Candidates are advised to carefully read and adhere to the instructions on their admit card throughout the examination. Upon entering the examination hall, they should immediately take their assigned seats. Late arrivals due to traffic or other delays, may miss critical instructions announced at the start of the exam, and the NTA will not be responsible for such delays.
- Applicants must present their admit card, downloaded or printed from the NTA website, upon request for entry into the examination room. Test Centre staff are authorised to verify the identity of candidates and may take additional steps to confirm their credentials. Aspirants without a valid hall ticket will not be permitted to take the exam.
- Each candidate will be given a seat with a roll number. It is essential to sit in the assigned seat. Those who change rooms or seats without authorisation will have their candidature canceled, and no appeals will be entertained.
- Aspirants should check that the question paper corresponds to the subject indicated on their hall ticket. If there is a mismatch, it should be reported to the invigilator immediately.
- Assistance, including first aid or other information, can be obtained from the centre superintendent or invigilator during the exam.
- Please note that the NTA will not conduct re-tests for candidates who are unable to appear on the scheduled exam date for any reason.
UGC NET June 2024: What is considered as an unfair practice or exam protocol violation?
Unfair practices encompass any action that provides an unfair advantage to candidates, compromising the integrity of the examination process. Here is the list of activities considered unfair or violation of exam protocol:
a) Possessing unauthorized items such as prohibited stationery, communication devices, accessories, food, ornaments, or any other materials that could aid in cheating or are irrelevant to the exam content.
b) Engaging in impersonation or using someone else to complete the examination on one’s behalf, or preparing materials intended for copying.
c) Violating examination rules or any directives issued by the NTA regarding the UGC-NET examination.
d) Assisting others in cheating, whether by providing or receiving help directly or indirectly, or attempting to do so.
e) Writing exam questions or answers on any material provided by the Centre Superintendent that is not intended for that purpose.
f) Attempting to contact or communicate with anyone other than examination staff during the exam.
g) Threatening examination officials or fellow candidates.
h) Utilising or attempting to utilise any prohibited methods or means related to the examination.
i) Manipulating or fabricating online documents such as admit cards or self-declarations.
j) Forcefully entering or exiting the examination centre.
k) Using or attempting to use electronic devices after entering the examination centre.
l) Submitting application forms or admit cards with incorrect or altered photographs/signatures.
m) Hindering the smooth and fair conduct of the examination.
n) Engaging in any other actions deemed as Unfair Means by the NTA.
The NTA’s decision on any individual found guilty of these or similar offenses will be final and binding, categorizing the violation as an Unfair Means Case (UMC).
